About Job:

Based in Shenzhen, our school is seeking a Campus Controller to lead the Accounting and Finance Team for the Shenzhen campus. The Campus Controller will report to the Global Controller (based at Headquarters in New York) and will work closely with the Shenzhen Director of Operations & Administration, the HQ finance and accounting team and various functional leads within the organization. This is a unique opportunity to have an outsized impact in a global organization and a local school and team.

The Campus Controller’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Be accountable for the financial integrity, reporting and presentation of financial information as well as the maintenance of a robust controls environment for the Shenzhen campus
• Maintain compliance with local China tax and compliance laws and regulations as well as the reporting/filing requirements
• Lead the accounting and finance team to provide great experiences for external (e.g. Parents) and internal customers (teams and colleagues) and oversee daily accounting procedures for payroll, accounts payable, tax, accounts receivable and other accounting functions
• Manage the monthly close process in a prompt, timely and accurate manner for the Shenzhen Campus and Beijing HQ
• Prepare and review the monthly deliverables to the Global Controllership and planning teams
• Work with the global financial planning team on the annual budget as well as the various forecasts during the year
• Maintain timely reconciliation of General Ledger Accounts as well as monthly variance analysis
• Work closely with the Shenzhen Director of Operations & Administration on operational matters, including maintaining local partnerships with key shareholders and taking the lead in solving on-going business challenges
• Liaise with the Global Controllership team on the implementation and ongoing support of global policies and work procedures, significant accounting policies, checklists and close-to-report calendars
• Work closely with Global Controllership team on requests related to the review and annual external audit processes
• Evaluate operating procedures in terms of control, efficiency and quality of output, including developing and implementing policies, procedures and process improvements
• Work closely with internal teams, e.g. operations, admissions and people and culture, to fulfill key processes to ensure internal service quality

About You:

  • Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in accounting
    • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) or other accounting professional qualification preferred
    • 5+ years of proven experience in a Controllership function/role with progressive responsibility (namely experience in AP, AR, accounting, tax and payroll)
    • Experience working in a large multinational organization and in dealing with functional and virtual teams across regions
    • Experience working in educational institution or organization is preferred
    • People management experiences, including training, motivating and directing employees to optimize workplace productivity and promote professional growth
    • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, mainly local and US GAAP
    • Working knowledge of the tax laws and regulations in China
    • Sarbanes-Oxley compliance experience

    • Excellent communication skills in Mandarin and English (oral & written)
    • Strong technical and analytical skills and detail-oriented
    • PC proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel, working knowledge of Workday (a plus)

    • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

• Contract Period: 2 years
